Lower Bucks Co. Lawmakers To Address State Budget Impasse

Lower Bucks County Democratic lawmakers will hold a press conference in Morrisville on Friday to discuss the impasse.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Lower Bucks County Democratic legislators will address the PA State Budget impasse on Friday afternoon.

State Sen. Steve Santarsiero (D-10) will host a press conference along with the Bucks County Democratic House Delegation at 1 p.m. on Friday at Morrisville High School, 550 W. Palmer St.

Legislators will discuss the state budget impasse that is hurting students and families, and shuttering service providers across the Commonwealth.

The legislators include Santarsiero, and State Reps. Jim Prokopiak, Tina Davis, Brian Munroe, and Tim Brennan.

The impasse has gone over 100 days, with the Democratic House and the Republican Senate disagreeing on spending levels and priorities.

The Senate recently passed a $47.9 billion budget bill, while the House has supported a slightly higher $50.3 billion plan, and neither chamber is currently acting on the other's version.

The main disagreement involves the total amount of spending. The House, following Gov. Josh Shapiro's lead, passed a $50.3 billion budget, but Senate Republicans are pushing for a lower $47.9 billion plan.
