HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — For over six months, drivers have gone by the McDonald's and kept going, skipping the chance for coffee, Big Macs, French fries, and Happy Meals.

That's because the Easton Road eatery has been closed since December.

Horsham Township officials provided an update on the closures and plans for the McDonald's going forward.

Officials said the McDonald's had a fire that closed it in December.

The electrical fire was mainly in the basement, but the entire restaurant had smoke and water damage, township officials said.

Officials said the owner does plan on reopening.

The majority of their business is the drive- thru. Officials said McDonald's has submitted plans to the township to expand the length of the drive-thru lane to add another window to make the drive-thru more efficient.

Officials said McDonald's won't be adding a second drive-thru lane. They will be adding pedestrian lamps and landscaping along Easton Road.

Township officials said McDonald's hopes to reopen by the end of the year, or sometime early next year.
