'Phillies Karen' Did Not Get Fan Appreciation From Patch Readers
A recent Patch poll asked whether "Phillies Karen" should have been given a ball she felt she deserved. Find out what the results said.
PHILADELPHIA, PA — Remember "Phillies Karen?"
She was all the rage for a week earlier this month. Everyone wanted to know her identity. Everyone debated what she had done. Everyone had an opinion about what she did.
And then, like a lengthy rain delay, it was game over.

With Sunday being "Fan Appreciation Day" to close the regular baseball season before the Philadelphia Phillies head to the playoffs, we wanted to close a loose end left open when we asked Patch readers in a poll question about whether "Phillies Karen" should have gotten the baseball.
Let's set the scene for those who may have been under a rock the first week of September or out of the country.

Phillies centerfielder Harrison Bader hit a home run into the stands in the 4th inning of the Sept. 5 Phillies-Marlins game at LoanDepot Park in Miami.
As several Phillies fans scrambled to grab the baseball, a man ran over from several rows and came out with the ball.
Drew Feltwell went back to his seat and gave the ball to his young son, Lincoln. After the boy got the ball, one of the fans who was scrambling to nab it approached Feltwell, and Feltwell's reaction was pure surprise. Watch it unfold here.
That's when "Phillies Karen" became one of the biggest, if not the biggest, Phillies fan story of the season.
The fan, sporting a gray bob haircut and a Phillies jersey, reportedly told Feltwell the ball was hers because it landed near her seat. And Feltwell, not wanting to cause a scene, gave her the ball.
So we asked our Patch readers in a poll about whether "Phillies Karen" deserved that baseball.
And these are the results of that poll:
Of 1,502 votes, an overwhelming majority believed that the father got the ball fair and square and should have kept it.
In fact, the father received 1,087 votes (72.37 percent) supporting him.
Meanwhile, "Phillies Karen" received 415 votes (27.63 percent) with those Patch readers stating that the father made the right call to de-escalate the situation and give her the ball.
It was quite a season for the Philadelphia Phillies.
We will remember all of Kyle Schwarber's "Schwarbombs" this year, the recent home run record game against those same Miami Marlins, and the fact that the team won the NL East division for the second straight year.
But "Phillies Karen" may have taken the Tastykake this year.
