Philly Area Drivers Facing Toll Hikes In Early 2026
Tolls are rising on area bridges and the Pennsylvania Turnpike with the start of the new year, officials have announced.
PHILADELPHIA, PA — The arrival of any new year usually means that we will all pay higher prices for something. Everything seems to go up in cost, whether it be taxes or tolls.
Drivers in Bucks and Montgomery counties and the Philadelphia region who use the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the Delaware River bridges, especially for daily work commutes, will feel the pinch early next year.
Higher tolls are coming starting in January.

On Jan. 4, tolls on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Northeast Extension will rise by 4 percent.
“The increase of 4 percent is the lowest rate increase since 2014 and will be used entirely to repay Act 44 debt service,” the commission states on its website. Act 44 is a 2007 state law that forces PA Turnpike users to fund Pennsylvania Department of Transportation road projects.

The toll hikes will add to those monthly EZ-Pass bills.
Here's another way to really feel the cost of the toll hike. Drive the entire 360-mile stretch of the PA Turnpike from east to west, and the toll bill will cost over $100.
Drivers won't get a pass on area bridges either.
Tolls on the Burlington-Bristol Bridge and the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge are both rising next month from $1.50 to $2 .Toll-by-plate is to increase from $2 to $5, the Burlington County Bridge Commission has announced.
Meanwhile, the Lower Makefield-based Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission is increasing tolls on its eight bridges starting on Jan. 1.
E-ZPass tolls will go from $1.50 to $2, while toll-by-plate will increase from $2 to $5.
The toll hikes will impact drivers going over the Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1), Scudder Falls (I-295), New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202), I-78, Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22), Portland-Columbia (Routes 611, 46, and 94), Delaware Water Gap (I-80), and the Milford-Montague (Route 206) bridges.
