LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — PennDOT is planning several road construction projects this week in Lower Bucks County, including the continuation of Route 1 traffic improvements.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that resurfacing operations take place this week on several state highways in Lower Bucks County and other counties under multiple ongoing projects to repair and resurface more than 200 miles of state highway across the five-county region.

  • Monday, Oct. 13, through Friday, Oct. 17, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, a periodic lane closure with flagging will be in place on sections of Penn Valley Road/Hood Boulevard between Old Bristol Pike and Oxford Valley Road in Bristol and Falls townships for paving.
  • Monday, Oct. 13, through Friday, Oct. 17, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure with flagging will be in place on sections of Knights Road between Route 132 (Street Road) and Poquessing Creek in Bensalem Township for pavement repair.
  • Monday, Oct. 13, through Friday, Oct. 17, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, a lane closure with flagging will be in place on sections of U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) between Poquessing Creek and Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) in Bensalem Township for pavement repair.

Meanwhile, PennDOT plans to perform construction at night this week on U.S. 1 under a $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

The work is part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
