The two-week wait to watch the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl feels like an eternity.

WARMINSTER, PA — The waiting is the hardest part.

The late Tom Petty sang that and he was right on the money when it comes to waiting for the Philadelphia Eagles to play in Super Bowl LVII against the Kansas City Chief on Sunday, Feb. 12.

It’s not like this team gets to the big game every year. It’s been five years since Doug Pederson and Nick Foles pulled off the big upset and beat Bill Belichick and Tom Brady and those pesky and hated New England Patriots.

But waiting two weeks for your favorite team to play in the Super Bowl feels like an eternity.

The Pro Bowl doesn’t help any. It’s now been reduced to a Flag Football game.

Over the years, the NFL's stars have dropped out. No one wants to get injured. No one wants to play hard. No one wants to play at all.

And now it's a flag football competition coached by the comedy team of Peyton and Eli Manning.

They should just drop the event completely. I’d rather watch the NHL All-Star Game. At least it’s a shootout and somewhat competitive.

The Pro Bowl is a snoozer. It always has been. But I always liked it at the end of the season, to wrap up a long year of football and extend another weekend as we prepare for spring training and March Madness.

But the Super Bowl is the main event. And we need to go through all the pomp and circumstance.

We need to cover every story angle. We need to interview every player.

We need to learn how Andy Reid trims his mustache. We need to learn the names of Nick Sirianni’s children.

We need to wait. And wait. And wait.

This weekend, we will plan our Super Bowl parties. We will buy more Eagles gear. And on Monday, we will start the countdown to the big game.

We will debate whether we can beat the Kansas City Chiefs. We will compare Jalen Hurts to Patrick Mahomes. We will wonder which Kelce will have a better game.

We will try to get through the work week and hope Sunday, Feb. 12, arrives sooner. We know it won’t.

Waiting is the hardest part. And we can’t wait for Super Bowl Sunday.
