Warminster-Area Firefighters Battle Mulch Fire Friday
The blaze, in Warrington, shut down two schools and drew firefighters from across the area.
WARMINSTER, PA — Firefighters from in and around Warminster were called Friday to battle a mulch fire that clouded area skies with heavy smoke.
Two elementary schools were closed Friday due to the fire at Winding Brook Farm, off of Folly Road in Warrington Township.
Warminster's Hartsville Fire Company was among the crew's responding to the fire, which was reported around 3 a.m. Friday, according to Warrington Township Emergency Services. Early Friday, the company warned residents to "expect an odor of burning in the area" throughout the day.

Fire crews were on the scene of the fire for more than seven hours Friday.
The Central Bucks School District contacted families whose children attend Barclay and Titus elementary schools to notify them that both schools would hold classes remotely on Friday.

Superintendent John Kopicki made the decision to close the buildings prior to the start of the school day in the interest of the health and safety of the schools' students and employees, district spokesperson Angela Linch said.
Heavy smoke caused reduced visibility on Route 611, Folly Road, Bristol Road and Pickerton Road, according to the Transportation Management Association of Bucks County.
