β’ Washington mayor, business owners say downtown still safe after recent shootings (observer-reporter.com) β Downtown Washington officials and business owners are stressing that North Main Street remains safe to visit after three recent shooting incidents, including gunfire Sunday night that prompted a brief shelter-in-place at Washington & Jefferson College. Police say the latest case involved a domestic situation in an apartment, while earlier shootings in October and on Thanksgiving remain under investigation, leaving some students more cautious after dark.

β’ 2025 Borough & School District Real Estate Tax Payments Due December 31st (eastwash.com) β Homeowners in East Washington Borough and the Washington School District have until Wednesday, December 31 to mail 2025 real estate tax payments, with on-time status based on postmark. Late payments will be returned and unpaid properties will be liened, and personal checks are only accepted through December 15. After that, residents should use cashierβs checks, bank checks, or money orders sent to the Washington tax collector address.
