1 Dead After Lighting Strike Sends Branch Onto Car In Southeastern PA: Police
Witnesses told Pennsylvania State Police they saw lighting strike a tree, then a branch fall onto a vehicle, killing its driver Saturday.
HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP, PA — A tree branch felled by lightning claimed a person’s life over the weekend in Southeastern Pennsylvania, according to officials.
Pennsylvania State Police said shortly after about 3 p.m. Saturday at Highland and Limestone roads in Highland Township, Chester County a call for service came in reporting a tree branch falling on a vehicle.
There, witnesses told troopers they saw lightning strike a tree, causing the branch to fall onto a Kia sport utility vehicle, state police said.

The driver was dead on the scene, and a passenger was taken to Paoli Hospital for minor injuries.
A second passenger was unharmed but also taken to the hospital, police said.

State Police did not provide details on the decedent.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
