10 Candidates Running For Five Seats On West Chester Area School Board
Five candidates from each party were the top vote-getters in Tuesday's primary election.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Ten candidates are running for five slots on the West Chester Area School Board in the November election.
All of the candidates cross-filed on both the Democratic and Republican ballots in Tuesday's primary election.
Four incumbents and one newcomer are running together on the platform “United for West Chester Area School Board.” The candidates stand up for student achievement, student voice and student rights. They also stand for transparency, fiscal responsibility and collaboration.

Five candidates are running on a team that is endorsed by the “Back To Basics” political action team.
The candidates were selected based on their diverse backgrounds, commitment to serving the community, and balanced view on the best approach to issues facing the district.

These are the candidates running for West Chester Area School Board in the May primary.
Region One covers parts of West Chester and West Goshen Township.
Alex Christy and Katy Frey, both incumbents, will run in the November election.
Democratic Primary
- Kate Frey got 2,891 votes, amounting to 47.21 percent
- Alex Christy got 2,645 votes, amounting to 43.19 percent.
- Nick Spangler got 371 votes, amounting to 6.96 percent of the votes
- Robert Rafetto got 215 votes, amounting to 3.5 percent.
Republican Primary
- Nick Spangler earned 1,318 votes and amounting to 39.43 percent of the votes
- Robert Rafetto got 1,248, amounting to 37.43 percent of the votes.
- Katy Frey got 410 votes, amounting to 12.26 percent of the votes.
- Alex Christy got 357 votes, amounting to 10.68 percent of the votes.
Region 2 covers East Goshen and West Whiteland Townships
Incumbents Karen Hermann and Daryl R. Durnell will run against Amanda Greenberg and Peggy Schmidt
Democratic Primary
- Karen Herrmann got 2,710 votes, amounting to 39.36 percent.
- Daryl R. Durnell got 2,651 votes, amounting to 38.5 percent
- Peggy Schmidt got 710 votes, amounting to 10.3 percent of the votes
- Amanda Greenberg got 804 votes, amounting to 11.68 percent of the votes/
Republican Primary
- Peggy Schmitt got 2,050 votes, amounting to 38.77 percent of the votes
- Amanda Greenberg got 2,084 votes, amounting to 39.4 percent of the votes
- Karen Herrmann got 586 votes, amounting to 11.03 percent of the votes.
- Daryl R. Burnell got 583 votes, amounting to 10.46 percent of the votres.
Region 3 covers East Bradford and Thornbury Township, Delaware County, and parts of Westtown and West Goshen townships.
Gary Bevilacqua, vice president, and incumbent, will run against Alain Oliver, a Republican in the November election.
Each won their respective primary races in Region 3.
Democratic Primary
- Bevilacqua garnered 2,092 votes, amounting to 82.4 percent in the Democratic primary.
- Oliver got 440 votes, amounting to 17.3 percent in the Democratic primary.
Republican Primary
- Oliver got 1,717 votes, amounting to 66.8 percent in the Republican primary election, and
- Bevilacqua got 849 votes, or 33.04 percent in the Republican primary.
