127-Year-Old Marshall Square Park Fountain In West Chester To Be Rededicated

The iconic West Chester fountain was a "hub of community activity" when it was dismantled in the 1950s. Now it's been fully restored.

WEST CHESTER, PA -- The Friends of Marshall Square Park will rededicate the park's restored 1889 Fountain during a special event on September 24, they announced in a press release. The event will take place at 4 p.m.

According to the Friends, the fountain was a "hub of community activity" before it was removed in the early 1950s. Sections were saved by private owners who kept them on an East Bradford Farm, where the Friends recovered them in 2012 and began fundraising to return the fountain to its heyday.

It has now been restored to working order and stands once again at the corner of East Marshall and North Franklin Streets.
