$200K Award To Chesco Universities To Bolster Special Education
The funding to West Chester University and Lincoln University is part of a $1.5 million package awarded to 15 universities in Pennsylvania.

HARRISBURG, PA —The Pennsylvania Department of Education announced Monday that nearly $200,000 has been awarded in grants to two universities in Chester County for the benefits of special education programs.
Lincoln University was awarded $99,999 and West Chester University was awarded $99,578.
The awards were part of a $1.5 million grant package awarded to universities that partner with school districts to expedite the process for students to become special education teachers.

“These grants will expedite the process of becoming a certified special educator and enable more teachers to enter the field faster," said Dr. Khalid N. Mumin, acting Pennsylvania Secretary of Education.
Mumin said Gov. Josh Shapiro is committed to supporting and growing Pennsylvania’s educator workforce, especially in specialized and underserved areas like special education.
