21 Apply For West Chester Superintendent: Board
The West Chester Area School Board set an Aug. 1 deadline to apply for superintendent of the district, which has over 12,000 students.
WEST CHESTER, PA —The West Chester Area School Board's search for a new superintendent concludes Tuesday, Aug. 1.
“The good news is that we have received 21 applications,” Susan Tiernan, board president, said Monday.
Tiernan thanked the staff, students, parents, guardians, and community for participating in the search for a superintendent.

The school district has 12,095 students. It has 11 elementary schools, three middle schools, and three high schools.
The search began in January after Dr. Bob Sokolowski, superintendent, announced his retirement, effective Dec. 31, 2023. Citing health reasons Sokolowski said he was using sick days to reach his retirement date.

Dr. Kalia Reynolds is serving as the substitute superintendent as the search for the next superintendent is ongoing.
The next step is to interview potential candidates for the position.
The Chester County Intermediate Unit is overseeing the search.
To date, the unit staff is reviewing the results of a survey taken by focus groups participating in the search.
The board expects to begin interviewing candidates in mid-August and complete the process at the beginning of September.
