35-Acre Prescribed Fire to Burn In Chester County Wednesday
The large swath of land will be intentionally set ablaze to help protect the ecosystem, officials said.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A large swath of land in Chester County will be set ablaze as part of a prescribed burn to care for the area's ecosystem.
The 35-acre burn will take place on state game lands on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The impacted area includes forest to the north of Route 23 and west of Laurel Run Road in Elverson, Warwick, and Morgantown.

The burn will help maintain oak seedlings in the understory by reducing less fire resistant trees and shrubs that crowd them out.
These state lands are managed by the Pennsylvania Game Commission, which regularly conducts prescribed burns around the state to maintain critical ecosystem functions.
