$412K State Grant For Avondale Sewer Plant

Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development awarded a $412,125 grant to replace outdate equipment.

KENNETT SQUARE, PA— Avondale Borough was awarded a $412,125 state grant to update the Avondale Borough Wastewater Treatment Plant, state Rep. Christina Sappey said Friday.

The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development grant will be used to replace an influent pump, related pumping controls and backup equipment for the sewer plant.

By replacing the pump and outdated piping and equipment, the borough hopes to reduce ongoing maintenance costs of the system.

Avondale borough is a .5-square mile municipality on East Branch White Clay Creek.

“This project is essential to maintaining current, well operating infrastructure within the borough,” said Sappey, a Chester County Democrat.

“Improving our infrastructure will have a positive impact on our communities for years to come," Sappy said. "I am thankful to see this state funding request approved and I am proud to have worked with Avondale Borough to secure this grant.”

Mayor Susan Ruzcidlo and Paul Morgan, Avondale borough council president, thanked Sappey for her advocacy, hard work and commitment to the residents of Avondale.

The Avondale Borough Wastewater Treatment Plant serves residents of Avondale Borough and portions of New Garden Township.
