5 Chesco CVS Stores On List Of 75 CVS Vaccination Sites In PA

CVS has expanded its COVID-19 vaccination site list to 75 stores statewide and five Chester County CVS pharmacies will be giving the shots.

WEST CHESTER, PA — CVS has dramatically increased the number of Pennsylvania locations that are administering coronavirus vaccinations, the company announced Friday.

Five CVS stores in Chester County are on the list of 75 Pennsylvania CVS pharmacies that will be taking appointments for the shots in Pennsylvania. When the company began giving shots in the state only six CVS stores were giving the vaccinations.

The five Chester County CVS pharmacies listed on CVS's Webpage as COVID-19 vaccination sites are: Berwyn, Wayne, West Chester, Exton, and Downingtown.

Exton and Downingtown each have more than one location and the CVS list does not specify which of the stores will administer the vaccines, or if both will. The Pottstown CVS pharmacy at 1833 E. High St. is also on the list.

The new locations announced Friday are spread throughout the entire state. As of about 11 a.m. Friday, almost all of them were listed as "fully booked" on the CVS website, but customers were being urged to keep checking and make an appointment when one becomes available.

In Pennsylvania, people currently eligible for the vaccine include those age 65 or over, health care personnel, people with high-risk conditions, and long-term care facility residents and staff.

On Thursday, Gov. Tom Wolf also announced the rollout of a special program to vaccinate teachers and other school employees via pharmacies in the state.

The Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 vaccines is a collaboration between the federal government, states and territories, and 21 national pharmacy partners and independent pharmacy networks.

According to the CDC, the program is being implemented incrementally based on the available vaccine supply, with select retail pharmacy locations providing COVID-19 vaccine to eligible individuals. As vaccine availability increases over time, the program will expand to ultimately include all 40,000 pharmacies in the United States, the CDC said.

As of Friday, more than 2.6 million vaccine shots had been given in Pennsylvania (excluding Philadelphia, which has its own program). More than 1.8 million had gotten a single dose of one of the vaccines, while more than 826,000 had received both shots, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
