Woman Was DUI When She Crashed Car With 5 Kids Inside: Police

A West Chester woman crashed in the borough with five children under 11 years old in her car, and police say she was impaired.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A child under two was not properly restrained in a car seat, and four other children were in a vehicle when its driver crashed it on Saturday evening while driving drunk, authorities allege.

It was 8:35 on Saturday evening when West Chester police responded to a crash reported on W. Biddle Street and discovered a driver they allege was impaired and had five children under 11 in her vehicle when she crashed.

The crash happened in the 300 block of West Biddle Street on May 8 around 8:35 p.m., according to police reports.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed was Kimberly Fahy, 38, of West Chester, according to West Chester Borough Police. Officers reported that Fahy appeared drunk.

An investigation showed Fahy was under the influence of alcohol, police reported.

Fahy is charged with DUI; high rate of alcohol, with BAC of more than .10 and less than .16. She is also charged with Recklessly Endangering Another Person, both misdemeanors, according to court records.

She faces one felony charge of Endangering the Welfare of Children; Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, as well, court records show.

Also listed in the court docket is a summary offense involving child restraints for a child under two.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 14 in Chester County District Court. Fahy posted bail of $30,000, according to court records.
