Academic Award Winners: 3 West Chester Area School District Students

Three students won awards at the Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Conference National Harbor, Md.

WEST CHESTER, PA – Three West Chester Area School District students won academic awards at the Jack and Jill of America, Inc. 72nd Annual Eastern Region Teen Conference in National Harbor, Md.

More than 1,000 teenagers from 59 chapters along the East Coast attended the conference.

The Chester County Chapter, which includes families from Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties, took home three individual academic awards.

These students West Chester Area School District won awards for academic achievement:

  • West Chester East student, Jefferson Cooper, received the 2nd place award in the 11th grade category;
  • West Chester East student, Jada Cooper, received the 1st place award in the 9th grade category;
  • Henderson student, Morgan Jackson, received the 3rd place award in the 10th grade category.

To be considered for the award, the students and their families worked with the guidance counselors at each high school to submit transcripts, school profiles, and additional documentation.

“We are so grateful to have such a supportive team working to make sure our children are prepared to take advantage of every opportunity and who want the best for them just like we do,” said Elise Cooper, mother of Jefferson and Jada Cooper.

The mothers of the winners have been active members of the Chester County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. since their children were in preschool.

Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is a national organization dedicated to nurturing future African American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development.

“Participation in Jack and Jill of America isn’t about checking a box,” said Priscilla Jackson, mother of Morgan Jackson. “It becomes a part of who our children are and leaves a lasting impression throughout their lives, they have responsibilities and they take their role as a leader in the organization and the community very seriously.”
