Chesco Apple Device Thief Gets 3-6 Years in State Prison

WEST CHESTER — A 32-year-old Delaware man was sentenced in the Chester County Justice Center here Friday to three to six years in state prison for stealing Apple devices from Target in West Whiteland Township.

Corey Lewis, 32, of New Castle, Del., pleaded guilty Friday before Judge Patrick Carmody to burglary and conspiracy for stealing more than $10,000 worth of iPhones, iPads, and Apple watches on Sept. 9 Target on Sunrise Blvd.

Lewis smashed glass on the front door of the target to enter the store.

He then broke an Apple display case in the electronics department and removed $10,148 worth of iPhones, iPads, and Apple watches.

Investigators located a window punch tool and blood near the broken display case.

Police said this was the ninth Target Store on the East Coast that had been similarly burglarized.

The most recent one was at the Target in Warrington Township, Bucks County.

According to court records, Lewis was sentenced on Feb. 2 in Bucks County Court to two to four years in state prison for the Bucks County burglary.

First Assistant District Attorney Mike Barry thanked the collaboration of law enforcement in Bucks County and Chester counties to bring Corey Lewis to justice.

“It is shared efforts like this that keep our community safer,” Barry said.

Assistant Monica Szyszkiewicz prosecuted the case.
