"We're rooting for you, Chas," Dr. Bob Sokolowski, West Chester superintendent, said Friday.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Hometown pride in a West Chester native living out his boyhood dreams will clash with support for the Phillies in this year’s World Series, as one of the Astros is a Henderson High School graduate.

When Chas McCormick takes the field tonight for the Houston Astros, thousands of students in the West Chester Area School District will be rooting for him, and the Phillies.

“It was clear to everyone that he was extremely talented and dedicated to his sport,” the superintendent said.

McCormick graduated high school in 2013, where he was four-time All Ches-Mont League.

He played college baseball for Millersville University.

McCormick, who grew up as a diehard Phillies fan, was drafted by the Astros in the 21st round in 2017.

His mother, Nancy, collected Phillies memorabilia, but this World Series, she’s rooting for the Astros, according to a report today by ABC6 Action News.

"I have said many times that he's my boy -- blood is thicker than Red October," his mother said.

The 6-foot, 208-pound outfielder hit 14 home runs in 407 plate appearances this season.

He hit two playoff homers against the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.

McCormick has a twin brother, Jason, and two older brothers, Ryan and Sean.

All four played baseball.

When the Astros arrive at Citizens Bank Park Monday for Game 3 of the series, it will be McCormick’s first time playing there in his career.
