Downingtown Man Convicted Of Rape
Marco Martinez-Garcia faces a sentence of up to 40 years in state prison after being convicted this week of raping a child.
WEST CHESTER, PA —A 36-year-old Downingtown man was convicted by a jury in the Chester County Justice Center of sexually abusing a child numerous times from when the child was four to 11 years old, according to court records.
Marco Martinez-Garcia is in Chester County Prison awaiting sentencing on charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviant intercourse, and related offenses. He faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in state prison.
“The defendant engaged in a horrific and depraved pattern of abuse of an innocent and vulnerable child," District Attorney Deb Ryan said. "He isolated and manipulated the victim so that he would not tell others about these assaults."

On Sept. 3, 2020, the victim's mother reported to police that her 11-year-old child had been sexually assaulted by Martinez-Garcia in a residence in Kennett Square.
The victim’s mother reported her son later disclosed that the defendant sexually abused him when he was between 4-10 years old in his residence in Kennett Square and the defendant’s residence in York County.

The abuse stopped after the child told his mother about it while the two were watching television.
The child described numerous instances of sexual abuse in explicit detail, according to police.
