Parents in Downingtown Area School District can mark the first day of school coming later this summer.
DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Back-to-school planning is happening in Downingtown Area School District now, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in DASD, and info on policies as school starts.
The first day of school for most students in the Downingtown area is Aug. 30.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. A big question in school communities is masks — and if they will be required.

For the 2021-22 school year, DASD currently plans to offer full-time, in-person instruction, as well as online instruction via the Downingtown Cyber Academy.
The Health and Safety Plan approved in the July 14 DASD board of directors meeting calls for wearing masks as students return. DASD said it will follow the guidance of its governing bodies, the PA Department of Education and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

As updated guidelines are released, the District said it will update the Health and Safety Plan, which may result in future Board action.
