POCOPSON, PA —Brandon “Bam” Margera, the flamboyant former star of MTV’s “Jackass,”is free on $50,000 bail after being on the run since Sunday on assault charges.

Margera, 43, pleaded not guilty after being arraigned this morning before District Judge Albert Iacocca in Kennett Square on charges of simple assault, making terroristic threats and harassment.

Margera, a former professional skateboarder and stunt performer, turned himself into the state police at Avondale early Thursday morning, according to Trooper James T. Grothey.

Jesse Margera told police that his brother banged on his locked bedroom door early on Sunday, and left a threatening note against his family if Jesse called the police, according to court records.

Police said Magera fled into a wooded area at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Margera's lawyer, Michael T. van der Veen of Philadelphia, said Thursday that Margera contacted him after the warrant was issued and made arrangements with state police to surrender at 8 a.m. Thursday.

"He was not wandering around in the woods," van der Veen said. "He is a very solid, serious, stable guy. He did not do it. All families have disputes."

Van der Veen said the allegations are false.

"He is free to travel and do what he needs to do for his career," the attorney said.

Van der Veen represented former president Donald Trump during his second impeachment trial in the United States Senate, which resulted in an acquittal on Feb. 13, 2021.

On Thursday morning, Margera wrote on Instagram that the allegations are false and his brother will be sued for defamation and evicted from Castle Bam.

Earlier this week, Jesse Margera wrote on Instagram: "It's the constant death threats against my parents and other family members that I'm not just gonna sit there and tolerate. He is a danger to himself and anyone around him and that is unacceptable."

Margera, whose real name is Brandon Cole Margera, grew up in West Chester and owns a house in the borough and Castle Bam.
