Blood Drive This Week Offers Red Cross T-Shirt
The American Red Cross reminds Chester County that blood is always needed for cancer patients, even with trauma cases down in the pandemic.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The need for blood and plasma has not gone away just because we've been in a pandemic and the Red Cross is hoping people will come out and give in a special push March 15-26.
The American Red Cross is thanking committed donors who come out this week to give blood with an exclusive T-shirt and the knowledge that you showed up when it mattered most.
"As we mark a year of this pandemic, we're so grateful to our blood, platelet, and plasma donors for showing up when it mattered most," the Red Cross said. "We’re thanking donors for being a vital part of our Red Cross team with an exclusive T-shirt when you come to give March 15-26, while supplies last."

Those who wish to donate can schedule an appointment here.
The Red Cross is following FDA blood donation eligibility guidance for those who receive a COVID-19 vaccination. If you receive a vaccine, knowing the name of the manufacturer Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson) is important in determining your eligibility. In most cases, there’s no deferral time if you receive a vaccine, the Red Cross webpage said.

The American Red Cross has a constant and ongoing need for blood and platelet donations. With the ongoing pandemic, the Red Cross needs the help of blood and platelet donors and blood drive hosts to meet the needs of patient care.
The American Red Cross is testing all blood, platelet, and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies. A
s part of that effort, plasma from whole blood donations that test positive for COVID-19 antibodies may now help current coronavirus patients in need of convalescent plasma transfusions.
