Bridge Inspections To Restrict Philly Area State Road Travel

Malvern, Phoenixville, Tredyffrin Twp. and other spots will see closures next week as bridges are inspected along state highways.

KING OF PRUSSIA — Bridge inspections will close down travel lanes on state highways in three counties next week. Chester, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties are scheduled for bridge inspections between Aug. 3 and Aug. 7. All closures are between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced the work schedule on Friday. Scheduled lane closures by county are:

Chester County

  • Thursday, Aug. 6, and Friday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lane closures are scheduled on Church Road between Sweetwater Way and Swedesford Road in Malvern Borough;
  • Thursday, Aug. 6, and Friday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lane closures are scheduled on North Valley Road between Valley Green Road and Fox Hill Lane in Tredyffrin Township;
  • Thursday, Aug. 6, and Friday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lane closures are scheduled on Swedesford Road between Duportail Road and Brookside Drive in Tredyffrin Township; and
  • Thursday, Aug. 6, and Friday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lane closures are scheduled on Valley Forge Road between Old Forge Crossing and Route 252 (Swedesford Road) in Tredyffrin Township.

Montgomery County

  • Monday, Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A lane closure is scheduled on Route 29 (Bridge Street) between Starr Street and Walnut Street in Phoenixville Borough and Upper Providence Township.

Philadelphia

  • Wednesday, Aug. 5, through Friday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lane restrictions are scheduled on Walnut Lane between Magdelena Street and Park Line Drive;
  • Thursday, Aug. 6, through Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lane restrictions are scheduled on Passyunk Avenue between 61st Street and 28th Street; and
  • Wednesday, Aug. 5, through Friday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lane restrictions are scheduled on 33rd Street between Girard Avenue and West Oxford Street.

Work on these inspections will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which includes protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the job site, special signage and relevant training.
