Burgers, BBQ, Tacos, Ice Cream: Philly-Area Food Trucks To Try

Holiday weekend bash or neighborhood cruising, food trucks are out there all around Philly and its suburbs.

PHILADELPHIA — Food trucks are perfect for summer eating, bringing our favorite restaurant eats outside. They're everywhere now after 2020's diminished business year, so it's time to track down the trucks.

Savanna's Tender Love & Fries brings its bright blue and orange truck and food wares to events and parties, and the choice of some area wineries. Customers say the portions are huge and the food is amazing.

Tacos? Si. Taco Loco "is the original" at 400 Washington Ave., in Philadelphia, offering delivery with Door Dash. Calle del Sabor bills itself as "Philly's Best Taco," so you may have to find the Calle del Sabor food truck and decide how much you love the Caribbean and Latin cuisine. One of its specialties is Three Little Pigs Tacos, with smoked pork, bacon, and chorizo.

The Plum Pit Food Truck is based in Upper Darby but takes its burgers and barbeque on the road. Its social media page shows where its trucks wander.

And wait! Pizza! Sabatino's Mobile Pizzeria gets praise for its traveling cheesesteaks as well as pizza. Sabatino's restaurants are in West Chester, Downingtown, and Edgemont but the fun is on the road.

Ice cream trucks have been around forever, but Curbside Philly makes it new with gourmet desserts and ice cream from Lancaster County.

Southbound BBQ Company is owned by a Texan who brought the best of the Lone Star State north to the Philly area in 2006. Brad Webb said he loves BBQ the way he grew up eating it. Southbound BBQ does catering and weddings, too.

Hankering for fried chicken and waffles? The Hedgehog Grill has it on the menu. The savory and BBQ restaurant on wheels is owned by Upper Merion High School graduates, Paul Salamy and Steven Sicilia. They're ready to roll into your event, and in the winter, they'll remove your snow.

Zac's Hamburgers now has the Zac's Burger Bus. Zac's Burgers has been catering and serving up hamburgers in Chesco, Delco, Montco, and Bucks counties for decades, but the Burger Bus is now an option for weddings, events, and parties.

Dino's Ice Cream and Water Ice might be worth tracking down if you're driving south on I-95 into Delaware, where there's a brick-and-mortar Dino's store and a truck traveling.
