Campers Raise Big Money For Special Cause
Campers have a field day with a tons of fun and a check that's making a splash for an important cause.
Campers from Chesterbrook Academy's summer camp present a check for $1,245 to Chester County Special Olympics Thursday morning at The Chesterbrook Academy West Chester campus.
Tyler,9, and Matt, 10 presented the ceremonial check to Angie Robinson of Chester County Special Olympics on behalf of campers from seven Chesterbook Academy campuses in Chester County.
The check presentation was part of a field day gathering at the school on McDermott Drive in West Chester.
Over the past 11 summers Chesterbrook Academy officials say campers have raised $35,000 for Special Olympics.
According to the Chester County Special Olympics website "Chester County Special Olympics currently offers training in 16 Olympic sports, serving nearly 1,200 local athletes at various training sites throughout the county."
"Special Olympics would not exist today — and could not have been created — without the time, energy, commitment and enthusiasm of our volunteers.Volunteers are the backbone of Chester County Special Olympics. They serve as coaches, trainers,fundraisers,donors and event supporters. Special Olympic athletes and volunteers share a rich relationship while striving for their dreams."
