Chanukah Menorah Lighting Set In West Chester
A new led menorah will be lit up Dec. 10 in downtown West Chester to celebrate the festival of lights.

WEST CHESTER, PA —The public is invited to celebrate Chanukah, the festival of lights, on Sunday at the historic Chester County Courthouse.
A car menorah parade departs at 3:30 p.m. from the Chabad at 946 N. Valley Forge Road.
When the parade arrives, a new LED light menorah will be lit up at 4:30 p.m. at the courthouse at 2 N. High St. Firefighters will drop Chanukah gelt from a fire truck for children.

The event, sponsored by Chabad of Chester County & Western Main Line, includes music, donuts, latkes, hot drinks, and crafts.
Chanukah begins at sundown on Thursday, Dec. 7, and continues until Friday, Dec. 15.

The holiday is a Jewish festival that reaffirms the ideals of Judaism and commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple of Jerusalem by lighting a candle on each day of the festival.
Chanukah foods are cooked in oil to remember the oil that burned in a temple for eight days. In the United States, latkes, or potato pancakes, is a popular Chanukah food.
