Chemical Spill In Downingtown Cleared: Emergency Officials
The hazmat incident was discovered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at 415 Boot Road, Downingtown.
DOWNINGTOWN, PA —The Chester County Emergency Services Hazardous Materials Response Team determined that the hazardous material spilled on Boot Road Wednesday was Nitric Acid and Phosphoric Acid, according to a report available Thursday.
The state Department of Environmental Protection and the property owner will determine what is required for a thorough cleanup, according to a release from the Chester County Emergency Services.
The chemical spill at 415 Boot Road was reported at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The initial report was that there were 300 to 500 gallons of hazardous material spilled inside Chem Station, a company specializing in industrial cleaning chemicals.
Emergency responders observed a small vapor cloud from the facility when they arrived.

A shelter-in-place order was put out on 9-1-1 for a one-mile radius around the facility to ensure the safety of the community. A school was evacuated and parents were notified.
The incident was under control at 2 p.m.
