Chesco Coronavirus Cases Highest In 20-somethings

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The highest number of coronavirus cases in the county by age is 20- to 29-year-olds, with 608 cases in that range, according to the Chester County Health Department. Chester County has also seen 205 cases in people under the age of 19. This means 813 of the county's 3,906 coronavirus cases are in people under the age of 29.

Cases in county residents under age 50 number 1,881 of cases in the county, and there were 2,485 coronavirus cases in people under 60 as of July 7.

The county had seen 29,591 negative coronavirus test results, and 328 deaths as of July 7. The recovery rate for cases of Covid-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, is just over 73 percent in Chester County, according to the Chester County Health Department.

Kennett Square Borough reported the most positive coronavirus cases among Chester County municipalities, at 184, a figure representing just under 3 percent of the population there. However, the borough has had just one death from Covid-19. Avondale Borough has had no deaths, but has the highest number of positive cases as a percentage of its population, at 3.71 percent.

East Vincent Township has seen the highest number of deaths, at 39, with 126 positive cases there, or 1.81 percent of its population.

Twelve Chester County municipalities report double-digit coronavirus deaths. Willistown Township has suffered the highest number of deaths, at 49. East Vincent Township has had 39 deaths, East Goshen Township, 34 deaths, East Bradford Township 27 deaths. Phoenixville Borough reports 22 deaths, while West Chester Borough has seen 19, Caln Township 13, West Brandywine Township 12, Tredtffrin Township 12, East Caln Township 11, and West Goshen Township 10 deaths.
