Chesco Democratic Committee Calls Sen. Mastriano Actions Misguided, Embarrassing
Chester County Democratic Committee Chair Charlotte Valyo called on PA Sen. Mastriano to give up on his 'wasteful' election audit.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County's Democratic Committee has called "election integrity" rhetoric in Pennsylvania — where elections were found to be secure — "embarrassing," in advance of a speech planned in Chesco this week by a Republican legislator.
On Tuesday, Chester County Democratic Committee Chair Charlotte Valyo issued a statement preceding the Wednesday appearance in Chesterbrook by Pennsylvania Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33rd). The PA Senator has been rallying around the call for "election integrity" for months. He can be heard on Real America's Voice in April discussing the American election process. Real America's Voice publishes Steve Bannon's War Room.
Valyo called Mastriano's recent actions "misguided (and) embarrassing." Mastriano visited Arizona over the summer as that state's audit of the 2020 election was underway, and returned to Pennsylvania with his own plan to replicate the audit here, the Associated Press reported.

"How many times does President Joe Biden need to be declared the winner of the 2020 Presidential Election for this dangerous rhetoric to stop?" Valyo's statement said. "We are less than a month away from the next election where real issues that truly impact the everyday lives of Pennsylvanians are on the ballot, yet Republicans continue to waste taxpayer money spreading lies and conspiracy theories."
Mastriano is one of two legislators from Pennsylvania named in last week's report of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee as key actors in attempts by former President Trump to overturn the results of the 2020 election after he lost.

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee recommended, in the report titled "Subverting Justice," that U.S. Rep. Scott Perry (R-10th), and Mastriano may have ties to the Jan. 6 insurrection and they should be investigated. The report is nearly 400 pages long and provides details of how Mastriano and Perry spread false reports of election fraud, in order to influence people in the Department of Justice.
Perry and Mastriano each separately communicated with and urged acting Attorney General Richard Donoghue to investigate the election in Pennsylvania, according to the report.
Valyo said on Tuesday, "This cult-like devotion to former President Trump and his 'Big Lie' has already led to one insurrection and continues to chip away at the very foundation of our democracy. Recount after recount has confirmed the election and confirmed that our elections are secure. They were secure in 2020 when President Biden soundly defeated former President Trump and they are secure today. Despite Republicans spending millions of dollars searching for some semblance of fraud, the only confirmed cases of illegality in Pennsylvania were among voters supporting Donald Trump."
Her statement continued, "It is time for Sen. Mastriano to give up on this baseless, wasteful, undemocratic inquisition. I call on him to cancel this shameful event and go back to doing the job he was elected by his constituents to do, not the bidding of Donald Trump and his co-conspirators from the Jan. 6 insurrection."
