Chesco Health Department: COVID-19 Vaccines For Children
The county health department has started scheduling vaccines for children 6 months and older.
WEST CHESTER, PA — With the approval by CDC of COVID-19 vaccines for children 6 months and older, the Chester County Health Department is scheduling vaccine appointments.
The vaccine dose for children under 5 is lower than the dose used for children over 5.
According to the Chester County health department:

- The Pfizer vaccine is 3 micrograms — one-tenth of the adult dose— given in three doses.
- The Moderna vaccine is 25 micrograms—one-fourth of the adult dose — given in two doses.
Here are some tips for when your child is getting a vaccine:
- Bring a toy or blanket.
- Hold you child in a comfortable position.
- Distract your child with a comfortable story.
- Ask the provider if numbing ointment is available.
The county health department also has a toolkit for parents and educators, featuring resources, fun activities and information about the COVID-19.
