COATESVILLE — State Rep. Dan Williams, a Chester County Democrat, is hosting a virtual town hall at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 21 to discuss Tower Health’s plan to cut emergency medical services to Parkesburg and Coatesville, effective Sept 1.

Tower Health's announcement to stop Medic 93 services comes on the heels of the closing of Jennersville and Brandywine hospitals that serviced western Chester County.

Jennersville closed Dec. 31, and Brandywine closed Jan. 31.

On Wednesday, Chester County commissioners announced that ChristianaCare, headquartered in Wilmington, DE, plans to purchase Jennersville Hospital in Penn Township.

Williams said the purpose of the town hall is to discuss the impact of closing the EMS service in southern and western Chester County.

“This obviously is alarming to many in our community,” Williams said. “Things like hospitals and EMS services are necessities. Residents rely on these critical services. So, yes, this is cause for concern.”

The Chester County EMS Council said affected municipalities have 90 days to find a new agency.

Tower Health said in a statement the plan calls for consolidating Medic 93 from four locations to two. The two locations will focus on a service area around Reading, northern Chester and Montgomery counties, and the Route 422 corridor.
