PA Pharmacy Produced Weight Loss Drugs Without Required Inspections: State
The pharmacy must pay a $1 million fine, the Pennsylvania Department of State said.
KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A Chester County pharmacy must pay a $1 million penalty after officials said it compounded and packaged tens of thousands of doses of weight loss drugs in facilities that had not been inspected, according to state authorities.
The injectable drugs contained GLP-1, which is found in the popular Ozempic and Wegovy brand weight loss drugs.
Boothwyn Pharamacy, located in two facilities on Gale Lane in Kennett Square, has also had its license placed on probation.

The pharmacy never obtained the needed specific inspections and certifications needed in order to compound and produce the drug, the Pennsylvania Department of State said.
Officials said they conducted four general inspections of the pharmacy form Nov. 2024 to March 2025 and that staff never informed inspectors that compounding, the process by which ingredients are combined and mixed to create needed medications, was taking place in the facility.

Investigators found that the pharmacy was producing more than a thousand doses of GLP-1 drugs per day, violating the Pharmacy Act and state Board of Pharmacy regulations.
The pharmacy is permitted to apply to have the probationary status removed from its license once it completes payments of the rest of its $1 million civil penalty and obtains all required inspection approvals.
