The sheriff's office said a plaque above the CCSO's roll call door reads, “Behind these doors are the nation's finest deputies” and added, "Jeff was the embodiment of that statement."

The Chester County District Attorney's Office also offered "deepest condolences."

A friend, Richard Rotondo, of Phoenixville, said DiVito was "one of the nicest people I knew and I was privileged to be able to call him a friend. He's in a better place, but the world lost someone truly special."

Rotondo added a remembrance saying, "I’ll never forget meeting you all those years ago and finding out our common love for F-Body cars and motorcycles, among other common ground. ...Those of us who knew you and those who knew of you and your kindness will never forget you, brother."

DiVito's Facebook profile said he was from Downingtown.
