Watching the same group persist and display resilience through the fractured COVID year was another clue. Champions are not deterred by adversity and unexpected obstacles in their path.
And when they finally reached the Little League tournament this year, they were never phased by the pressure or the better competition.
"Our boys persevered and showed they, too, had worked hard and had improved," they added. "The wins kept coming in many different forms, but it was always as a team. It was always with our amazingly dedicated coach staff. It was always with our team’s families and friends cheering them on."
Beyond competing on one of the world's premier stages in youth sports, the local kids had the chance to experience life as pro athletes over the past week. The Little League World Series is televised by ESPN, and various interviews, video crews, documentary crews, and photo specials took place before and during the games. Players also got the chance to meet and interact with MLB players during the annual Little League classic, between the New York Mets and Seattle Mariners.
Being good Phillies fans, the kids from Upper Uwchlan were sure to give the Mariners their full support.
The Little League World Series semifinal and final matchups will be held through this weekend, with the championship game set for Aug. 24.
