Chesco Voter Turnout Was 81 Percent

58,859 mail-in ballots still awaited counting early Wednesday afternoon in Chester County.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Voter turnout was calculated to be nearly 81 percent in Chester County, as tallying of votes continued late into Wednesday morning, with updates coming in continuously.

Chester County's 380,388 registered voters cast 259,488 ballots on Nov. 3, according to the state's county elections page. In-person votes tallied 161,935 in Chesco, and mail-in voting 97,553, according to an official Pennsylvania election reporting site.

By 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, 108,005 mail-in ballots had been counted in Chester County, the state reported. That number represents 72 percent of Chester County's mail-in ballots having been counted.

At 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, 49 percent of mail-in ballots across Pennsylvania — 1,183,608 — remained uncounted, with that number falling by the hour as county officials complete the work and report results to the Commonwealth. By 1:30 p.m. that number was down to 1,121, 132. That means 62,548 mail-in votes were counted in three hours across the commonwealth.

Chester County's Elections Office issued 170,240 mail-in ballots in the 2020 General Election and 145,865 of those were cast, according to VotesPa, an official state elections reporting site.

Statewide, just under 46 percent of the mail-in vote had been counted by late Wednesday morning.

Across Pennsylvania, 1.4 million mail-in votes remained to be counted, as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. VotesPa shows that mail-in ballots cast, by party, are overwhelmingly registered Democrats by almost a 3-to-1 margin. Dems cast nearly 1.7 million ballots yesterday, while registered Republican cast just over 600,000.
