Chester County's own Nick Mead has been selected to carry the American flag during the closing ceremonies of the Paris Olympics.
STRAFFORD, PA — Chester County's own Nick Mead has been selected to carry the American flag during the closing ceremonies of the Paris Olympics.
Mead, 29, a native of Strafford, won a gold medal in Paris alongside his three crewmates in the men's rowing fours competition.

Mead will be joined by American Olympic legend and swimming champion Kate Ledecky in carrying the flag, Team USA announced. He is the first American Olympic rower to ever have the flagbearing honor. LeBron James and Coco Gauf carried the flag during the opening ceremonies.
The closing ceremonies will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11.

Mead was a star on the local scene for Episcopal Academy before competing for Princeton University, where he graduated in 2017.
Paris marks Mead's second Olympics. He finished 4th as part of the eights boat during the Tokyo Olympics.
