CCIU offers adult education programs providing skills required to land job in IT, commercial driving, technology and more.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Ready for a new career?

Chester County Intermediate Unit offers programs for adults who want to pursue new career opportunities.

Students will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts to gain the skills necessary to grow in their careers.

Here are some of the programs offered:

IT Security Analyst program: six-month course providing multiple industry certifications as well as college credits. In partnership with NuPaths and Harrisburg University, the program teaches students how to detect and resolve security threats.
Almost 5,000 job openings exist for this position within a 25-mile radius of Chester County.

Cost: $7,000.

Salary range: $36,360-56,150 annually.

Location: Technical College High School (TCHS) Brandywine Campus in Downingtown.

Commercial Driver’s License: 150-hour course providing knowledge to pass the commercial driving test.

Cost: $5,115

Average Salary: $56,280 annually

Location: TCHS Pickering Campus in Phoenixville.

Heavy Civil Technology: Prepares students for jobs working on bridges and roads. Students learn about earthmoving, equipment safety, hand-tool skills and traffic regulations.

Cost: $3,999

Average Salary: $49,050 annually

Location: TCHS Pennock’s Bridge Campus in West Grove.

HVAC Program:
Teaches students how to complete maintenance on heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Other systems reviewed include oil burners, hot air furnaces and heating stoves. EPA 608 certifications are available through the program.

Cost: $999

Location: TCHS Brandywine Campus in Downingtown

Average Salary: $53,430 annually

Welding Program: Focuses on skills regarding MIG welding, SRICK welding and OXY-FUEL cutting. Adults who pursue a career in welding will work on hand welding, flame-cutting, hand soldering and brazing, filling holes and seams, and joining metal pieces.

Cost: $1,955, annually

Location: TCHS Pickering in Phoenixville and TCHS Pennock’s Bridge in West Grove.

Average salary: $43,840.
