Chester County's Joey Wendle Smacks Grand Slam Against Phillies
The former West Chester star's shot was the decisive factor in the Phillies' loss on Sunday.

WEST CHESTER, PA — When West Chester University graduate and Chester County native Joey Wendle of the Oakland Athletics stepped up to the plate at Citizens Bank Park on Sunday afternoon, there were two outs and the bases were loaded.
It was an offspeed pitch from Edrubay Ramos, low and inside. Wendle turned on it and knocked it into the right field bleachers for his second career home run and first career grand slam.
Wendle, 26, a graduate of Avon Grove High School and West Chester University, spent most of the 2017 season in the minor leagues before being called up after rosters expanded to 40 men on Sept. 1.

After a stellar career for the Golden Rams, Wendle was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 6th Round of the 2012 draft before making his way into the Athletics organization.
A big grand slam for the local kid (who plays for the A's, though), and they now lead, 6-3. Some heavy lifting to do. #GoPhils pic.twitter.com/sU5fNYemtD
