Child Rape Results In Conviction Of Chesco Man: DA

A 35-year-old woman told police she was sexually abused from ages eight to 15 in her home in East Coventry home, prosecutors said.

WEST CHESTER, PA —A 58-year-old East Coventry Township man was convicted Friday by a jury in the Chester County Justice Center of sexually abusing a child.

Chester County District Attorney’s office said the name of the defendant is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

The defendant is awaiting sentencing on charges of rape and related charges.

According to prosecutors:

On Jan. 31, 2021, Chester County detectives interviewed a 35-year-old woman who disclosed that she was abused as a child by her stepfather when she was between the ages of eight to15 years old.

The victim said the abuse occurred regularly at their residence in East Coventry Township and in the defendant’s vehicle.

After the verdict, District Attorney Deb Ryan said that the victim, in this case, showed tremendous bravery and courage in coming forward, even years later, as many victims do.

"My office will continue to vigorously prosecute anyone who abuses children and help bring justice to victims," Ryan said.
