Chris Pielli, Chesco Democrat, Sworn In For State House

Pielli represents West Chester, East Bradford and West and East Goshen Township

HARRISBURG, PA —State Rep. Chris Pielli, a Chester County Democrat, took the oath of office at the state Capitol Tuesday to begin his first term representing the 156th District.

“Being sworn in today as representative of the 156th District was the honor of a lifetime,” Pielli said. “My colleagues and I hope to hit the ground running and bring positive, lasting change to the lives of Pennsylvanians.”

Under a new Pennsylvania redistricting map that is based on the 2020 census , the district covers the borough of West Chester, and East Bradford, East Goshen West Goshen townships.

The district covers 37 square miles and has a population of 66,169.

Pielli resides in West Goshen Township with his wife. They have two children.

The noon swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of the 2023 session of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Pielli was sworn in alongside 25 other first-term Democratic members and 23 Republican members.

Pielli defeated Republican challenger, Heidi VanderWaal, in the general election.

Pielli said he plans on spending his first year in office fighting for Pennsylvanians to earn a living wage and to protect the environment, voting rights, a woman’s right to choose, small business owners, veterans’ right; and a citizen’s right to equal protection under the law.
