Coatesville Man Fatally Shot Friday Night, Police Report

Police are searching today for two suspects in the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old man.

COATESVILLE, PA — A 38-year-old man was fatally shot Friday night after a dispute with two suspects, one armed, at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and East Lincoln Highway.

Chester County detectives and Coatesville police are searching for suspects, one of whom displayed a gun and said to the victim “I’m strapped.”

The gunman then fired two shots at the victim, police said.

The victim, who was not identified, was taken to Paoli Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the hip, officials said.

Soon after the surgery, the victim was pronounced dead.

“This is another senseless tragedy," Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said.

"If the public has any information about this incident, please contact the police immediately. Coatesville police and Chester County detectives are working around the clock to find these suspects and bring them to justice.”

According to police:

At approximately 9:07 p.m. Friday, Coatesville police responded to a report of gunshots at Fifth Avenue and East Lincoln Highway.

At the scene, police found a 38- year-old male shot in the hip. The victim was immediately transported to Paoli Hospital.

Eyewitnesses reported that two males in hoodies approached the victim and his cousin and engaged in a verbal dispute.

One suspect fired two shots. The two men then ran off.

Police recovered two fired shell casings and one fired projectile at the scene.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing the area.
