Coatesville Teen Surrenders To Police After HS Stabbing: Cops

Oddell Cannon, 16, is accused of attempted first-degree murder in the stabbing of a 16-year old at the Coatesville Area High School.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A 16-year-old Coatesville man surrendered to police Tuesday night after police said he stabbed a 16-year-old during a fight at Coatesville Area Senior High School.

Oddell Cannon was committed to Chester County Juvenile Youth Center here in lieu of $750,000 cash bail after being arraigned on attempted murder of the first degree, possessing a weapon and related charges.

Caln Township police said Cannon repeatedly stabbed the victim at 7:30 a.m. in the bathroom at the senior high school, 1145 E. Lincoln Highway.

Police said Cannon's case will be tranferred to adult court.

Attempted murder of the first degree is an attempted killing with the intention of a fatal killing. It carries a maximum sentence of 20 year in prison, according to the state sentencing guidelines.

The victim, who was not identified, is in stable condition in the Paoli Hospital, according to police.

Caln Township and multiple law enforcement agencies across Chester County searched the regions for over 12 hours Tuesday.

School officials said early Tuesday morning that the school was on a restrictive movement, which meant no one could leave the school grounds without an escort.
