David Charles MacIntyre: Chesco Part-Time Police Officer Passes Away

A graveside service is at noon today at Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery, 1235 Birmingham Road, West Chester.

WEST CHESTER, PA —David Charles MacIntyre, 73, passed away at his Lancaster home on Saturday, May 6, 2023. MacIntyre is survived by his longtime companion and wife of 16 years, Judith (Thum) MacIntyre.

MacIntyre served as a part-time police officer with the Westtown Township Police Department in the late 1970s into the early 1980s and was one of the first part-time police officers of the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department when it was formed in 1981.

MacIntyre's father, Charles, was a former police chief of the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department and his son, Bryan, currently serves as a lieutenant with Phoenixville Police Department here in Chester County.

Born in Chester, MacIntyre was the son of the late Charles W. and Anne J. (Stuart) MacIntyre.

MacIntyre graduated from B. Reed Henderson High School. He valued public service, working part-time as a police officer.

Known for his navigational skills, MacIntyre enjoyed being a truck driver for many years. His most recent job was transporting for Valley Proteins in East Earl Township. He also co-owned and operated C&D Auto Car Carriers with his brother, Craig.

MacIntyre was described as "a generous and charismatic man."

He was adventurous and enjoyed Caribbean cruises as well as vacationing in Ocean City, MD.

Family and friends will remember him for his humor and endearing warm personality. MacIntyre was a family man who adored his grandchildren.

He was also a former member of the Goshen Fire Company and a current member of West Chester Lodge No. 322 F.&A.M.

In addition to his wife Judi, Macintyre is survived by a son, Bryan MacIntyre, husband of Kelly, daughters, Karen MacIntyre and Jennifer Schreck, fiancée of Scott Behrens; grandchildren, Maya, Logan, Brayden, Carter, Cameron, and Lyla; his brother, Craig, husband of Melinda; nephew Colin, husband of Nichole; and niece Holly.
