Displacement Still Looms For Two Chesco Hurricane Ida Victims

The Chester County Commissioners are seeking property owners to rent to two victims who lost homes a year ago.

WEST CHESTER, PA —Chester County commissioners are seeking two property owners with apartments to rent for two people who are still living in hotel room as a result of their homes being destroyed in Hurricane Ida.

When Hurricane Ida hit Chester County last September, there was massive flooding and more than 200 people were left homeless, representing 77 households.

Subsequently, Chester County’s Department of Community Development rented hotel rooms for all but two of the victims who lost their those who lost their homes.

The county seeks a one-bedroom apartment on a first-floor in Chester County and a one-bedroom apartment in West Chester.

As an incentive, the county is offering $1,000 to landlords of each rental property participating.
