Domestic Violence Lands Coatesville Man In State Prison
Matthew Myers was sentenced in the Chester County Justice Center to 2½ -8 years in prison for assaulting a victim in front of children.

WEST CHESTER, PA —A Coatesville man was sentenced Wednesday by Judge Alito Rovito to 2½-8 in state prison for three domestic violence incidents in front of his children.
Matthew Myers, 31, was convicted by a jury in May of assaulting, harrassing and threatening a victim in 2020 and 2021.
Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said domestic violence has no place in society or inside homes, particularly when young and vulnerable children are present.

“ Matthew Myers repeatedly assaulted the victim, but she repeatedly contacted Coatesville to report it,” Ryan said. “That’s what it takes to stop domestic violence – courage, and fortitude. Hopefully, the victim can rest easier knowing the defendant is behind bars.”
Myers was convicted on charges of simple assault, trespassing, harassment, and terroristic threats these incidents:

- In Aug. 2020, the defendant assaulted the victim at her house in Coatesville; the victim suffered a head concussion.
- In Mar. 2021, the defendant violated a Protection From Abuse order by returning to the victim’s house and harassing her father.
- In July 2021, the defendant again violated the PFA by going to the victim’s house and threatening to have someone beat her up.
Coatesville police investigated. Assistant District Attorneys Dan Yarnall and Madeline Troutman prosecuted the case.
