Downed Trees, Flooding Shut Down Roads Around Chesco

PennDOT reports debris in many roads, and lanes closed due to flooding.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Debris, downed trees, and flooding closed roadways around Chester County Tuesday afternoon, as officials warn motorists to travel only if necessary and advise them not to risk driving through water accumulated on roadways.

PennDOT reported downed trees on wires along Westtown Thornton Road/Five Points Road. All lanes in both directions were closed at 2:24 p.m.

Flooding on Bus. U.S. 30/Lincoln Highway eastbound between Whiteland Town Center and Exton Square Mall at Iron Square Blvd. had closed all lanes at 1:30 p.m., according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Flooding closed all lanes in both directions along PA-23 between Pottstown Pike and Stauffer Road just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, said PennDOT.

Birmingham Road in both directions between Riflery Drive and Allegiance Drive has all lanes closed due to flooding.

Flooding on PA-100 in both directions at at Lincoln Highway also disrupted traffic, PennDOT reported just before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Flooding on Ship Road southbound between Landovery Drive near Newcomen Road Valley Hill Road created a lane restriction on Tuesday afternoon.

Debris on roadway on PA-401 restricted lane travel in both directions between Bell Circle and Valley Hill Road.

Paoli Pike also had lanes closed in both directions between Five Points Road and Meadow Drive on Tuesday afternoon because of debris in the road.

Debris has restricted lane travel along Yellow Springs Road, Country Club Road, Whitehorse Road, Grubbs Mill Road, Valley Road, Ferry Lane and Diamond Rock Road northbound between Central Avenue and Swedesford Road, throughout the day, according to PennDOT.

Debris on U.S. 322 eastbound had closed a lane 8 miles east of the U.S. 30 East exit in West Chester at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

There are also lane restrictions in both direction along State Route 52 between Shropshire Drive and Rosedale Avenue, because of debris in the road, according to PennDOT.
