Election 2023: Six Judge Candidates Qualified: Chesco Bar Association
Some candidates did not participate in the plebiscite, which deemed four qualified for judge and two others qualified for retention.

WEST CHESTER, PA —The Chester County Bar Association has rated four judicial candidates as “qualified” to serve for a 10-year term on the Chester County bench.
They are:
- District Attorney Deb Ryan, endorsed by the Democratic party;
- P.J. Redman, endorsed by the Republican party;
- Don Kohler, endorsed by the Republican party;
- Thomas McCabe, endorsed by the Democratic party.
The bar also rated two judges as qualified for retention:

- Judge Patrick J. Carmody
- John L. Hall
Two candidates have insufficient ballots casted:
- Andy Rongaus, endorsed by the Republican party
- Sarah B. Black, endorsed by the Democratic party.
There are 12 candidates running for five positions on the Chester County bench. Judges earn an annual salary of $197,119.

These candidates did not participate and have not been rated:
- Judge Nicole Forzato, Easttown Township;
- Fredda D. Maddox, East Goshen Township;
- State Rep. Kristine C. Howard, East Whiteland Township;
- Judge Lou Mincarelli, East Brandywine Township, the endorsed by Republican party;
- Sheriff Paige Simmons, West Pikeland Township;
- Dave Black, endorsed by the Republican party.
Most judicial candidates cross-file with both parties in the primary. If a candidate wins both the Republican and Democratic nominations, he or she runs unopposed in the general election in November.
