Election 2024: Carrie Stare Of Westtown Runs For State Representative

Carrie Stare is running for State Representative of District 160, which includes municipalities in Chester and Delaware counties.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA —Carrie Stare, a Democrat, announced her candidacy to run for the 160th State House District, which covers municipalities in eastern Chester County and western Delaware County.

“After careful consideration and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that our community faces, I believe that now is the time for proactive and effective leadership,” Stare said in announcing her candidacy.

The district is represented by Republican Craig Williams of Glen Mills, who has been in office since 2021.

The district covers Birmingham, Pennsbury, Thornbury, and Westtown township in Chester County, and Bethel, Chadds Ford, Chester Heights, Concord, and Thornbury Township in Delaware County. It has a population of 63,956 residents. Representatives serve a two-year term at an annual salary of $102,844.

Stare said in a press announcement that she is running to create a stronger, fairer economy; protect and strengthen our public schools; defend access to affordable healthcare that includes women’s choice and reproductive rights; safeguard our environment; and ensure no one in our community is left behind.

“I believe in fostering collaboration among community members, local businesses, local non-profits, and government entities to develop effective and inclusive solutions,” Stare said. “As State Representative, I will work tirelessly to bring people together for the common good.”

Over the last decade, Stare participated in community service including the LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County, president; Westtown Township Parks and Recreation, commissioner; and Westtown, Thornbury, Birmingham, Democratic committee member.

State Rep. Chris Pielli, a Democratic representing D-156, which includes West Chester and surrounding townships, endorsed Stare.

Stare resides in Westtown Township with her partner, Danielle, and cat, Eleanor. She is a graduate of Millersville University with a degree in political science.
